HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CONTACT LENSES

Taking care of your contact lenses is easy but there are some important guidelines you need to follow. The basic routine of soft contact lens care includes cleaning, rinsing and disinfecting.

Wash your hands thoroughly so that you don’t transfer dirt and bacteria to your eyes. Do not use moisturizing soaps as they are not good for contact lenses. Dry your hands with a lint-free towel or by soaking in air.

Remove one lens and clean it with a suitable solution. Soft contact lenses require a solution suitable for soft contact lenses, such as the solutions listed on our solutions page.

Cleaning removes debris, protein buildup, cosmetics substances and any other material that may have attached to the lens. It is recommended that you rub the contact lens in the palm of your hand with a few drops of solution, even if you are using a no-rub solution. Rinse the lens again to remove any remaining debris. Rinsing is an important step that should not be omitted.

Put the lens in your lens case and fill the case with fresh solution. You should always refill your lens case with fresh solution instead of adding fresh solution on top of the existing solution that is already in the lens case. Repeat the above procedure for the second lens. Do not expose your contact lenses to tap water, bottled, distilled, fresh or salt water.

You should always follow your eye care professional’s advice and directions and you should replace your contact lenses according to the schedule given to you by your eye care professional. If your eyes become red, irritated or you feel any discomfort you should remove your contact lenses immediately and consult your eye care professional.
